pieces of software which developers may find useful or of historical
interest alongside the kernel
releases.
- 4DOS

4DOS is a replacement for
command.com on
MS-DOS and compatible systems, now available under a
modified MIT license and aimed at users of the FreeDOS
operating system.
- FreeGEM-XM

FreeGEM-XM is an open source version of GEM, an early graphical
user interface for DOS, the Atari ST, and other systems. The
FreeGEM project continued development of GEM after Caldera (now
Lineo, part of the SCO Group) released its sources under the
terms of the GNU General Public License.
- Open Boot PROM

The Open Boot PROM is Sun's Open Firmware implementation, as used
on its SPARC workstations and servers. Sun made the sources to
Open Boot available as part of its OpenSPARC initiative.
